Upcoming Drops: May 22-28
Let’s face it: The NFT space moves really fast. Considering how quickly things can change in the metaverse, a week in NFTs might as well be a month IRL.
Don’t get us wrong — the more people onboarded into the space, the merrier. But because of the constant influx of great art and ideas, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with all the news, launches, and general happenings.
Well, you can put the days of endless Twitter and Discord scrolling behind you as we pull together a weekly list of upcoming NFT drops you definitely don’t want to miss. Here’s what to look out for this week.
Nordic Spring
Who: AnimusNFT
What: Exhibit of limited editions
When: May 23 @ 5 p.m. ET
Where: MakersPlace
Why: Nordic Spring, curated by Animus, is an exhibit that seeks to celebrate the beauty of spring through the lenses of four acclaimed Scandinavian artists. The collection features limited edition works from Kristian Levin (noCreative), Arne Spangereid, Maria Fynsk Norup, and Kesja Tabaczuk.
Empire
Who: Kids Of The Apocalypse, Icona Pop, and Reo Cragun
What: Open edition
When: May 24 at 4 p.m. ET
Where: Sound.xyz
Why: Following a sold-out Solana collection, the audiovisual experience and multimedia franchise known as Kids Of The Apocalypse (KOTA) is gearing up for another unique drop. This time, KOTA will release a collaborative open edition alongside Icona Pop and Reo Cragun, marking Icona Pop’s first foray into the Web3 music space.
Figuregot
Who: Figuregot
What: 9,000 PFP NFTs
When: May 25, time TBA via Figuregot Twitter
Where: Figuregot.io
Why: Formed in the childhood bedroom of pseudonymous creators Jess Wiseman and Callum over a decade ago, Figuregot is a dynamic project said to be “inspired by the childlike joy of trading cards and collectibles.” Although little has been revealed about the collection thus far, from preliminary lore documents, it seems that storytelling will be a major aspect of its IP ecosystem.
Open Headition
Who: Taylor Might
What: Open edition
When: May 25 @ 3 p.m. ET
Where: OpenSea
Why: Open Headition is an “infinite generative open edition” created by Taylor Might. Best known as the creator of Dippies and Fethers, this latest from Might takes inspiration from mushrooms — specifically, how they form colonies that are connected in a similar fashion to the human nervous system.
Holy Script
Who: Sarah Script
What: Generative open edition
When: May 26 @ 1:30 p.m. ET
Where: OpenSea
Why: From Sarah Script — Web3’s most prominent calligrapher — comes Holy Script: a celebration of the power of the written word. The project consists of a vast array of literary NFTs, with each token featuring a word calligraphed by hand with ink on paper. The project is meant to imply that words themselves are sacred because they have meaning to the reader.
