Upcoming Drops: April 10-16

Let’s face it: The NFT space moves really fast. Considering how quickly things can change in the metaverse, a week in NFTs might as well be a month IRL.

Don’t get us wrong — the more people onboarded into the space, the merrier. But because of the constant influx of great art and ideas, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to keep up with all the news, launches, and general happenings.

Well, you can put the days of endless Twitter and Discord scrolling behind you as we pull together a weekly list of upcoming NFT drops you definitely don’t want to miss. Here’s what to look out for this week.

Knights of Degen Present Degenesis: Volume 1

Why: Partnering with Web3 startup Alexandria Labs, Knights of Degen will be releasing a book of lore in four chapters. The first chapter will be an open edition, with each of the subsequent chapters becoming more and more difficult to collect. One of each chapter will be required for users to burn in order to complete a full set.

The Backwingers

Why: Fresh off of the completion of his Across the Face and Room for Everyone collections, prominent Nigerian artist Osinachi is set to return to Nifty Gateway for another limited edition offering. Titled The Backwingers, the collection focuses on those who are “on the margin in society who possess more strength and more resolve than the best of us.”

What: Open edition and physical vinyl

Where: Sound.xyz

Why: Blondish has partnered up with Evolution Music and Deep Grooves to produce the world’s first biodegradable vinyl made using bacteria plastic replication. To introduce the project, Blondish will be dropping “Life Is…” the intro track of the #PlasticFreeParty album via Sound.xyz.

Who: Animoca Brands and Meta Hollywood

What: Membership NFTs

When: April 12 @ Time TBA via Meta Hollywood Twitter

Where: Club3Members

Why: Animoca Brands has partnered with Meta Hollywood (Planet Hollywood’s Web3 venture) to launch an IRL private member’s club in Los Angeles. The club, which will only be accessible to members via four unique types of token-acquirable memberships, will act as the physical meeting place for the greater Web3 community. It will open in the second half of 2023.

The Droplet

What: 9,000 free NFTs

When: April 12 @ 4 p.m. ET

Where: Elynxir.game

Why: Pixelynx, the music metaverse/gaming company founded by Deadmau5 and Richie Hawtin — which was recently acquired by Animoca Brands — is set to open early access to its flagship Web3 game Elynxir via a limited edition NFT collection called The Droplet. Each of the 9,000 free droplet NFTs will feature collectible music from nine artists at the forefront of Web3 music and will grant holders early access to the Elynxir platform.

Why: In honor of the 40th anniversary of David Bowie’s Let’s Dance album and with support from the Bowie Estate, Gala Music has partnered with musician, songwriter, and producer Larry Dvoskin to release a limited series of David Bowie-inspired digital collectibles. The drop will give fans access to a never-before-heard version of Bowie’s iconic hit, Let’s Dance, with all initial proceeds to be donated to MusiCares.
